What are Dermal Fillers?

Subtle Enhancements for a Naturally Refreshed Appearance

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore volume, smooth lines, and enhance facial contours. The most commonly used fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the body that helps maintain skin hydration and elasticity.

At Precision Skin Auckland, we specialise in dermal filler treatments that rejuvenate and enhance your natural features. Our focus areas include:

  • Lips
  • Cheeks
  • Chin
  • Lower Face
  • Perioral Area
  • Marionette Lines

Our philosophy centers on achieving results that are harmonious and undetectable—so you look refreshed, not altered.

Dermal Fillers can help:

  • Enhance lip volume and shape
  • Restore cheek fullness and contour
  • Define and project the chin
  • Smooth perioral lines (around the mouth)
  • Soften marionette lines (from mouth corners to chin)
  • Improve overall facial harmony

Each treatment is customised to your unique facial anatomy and aesthetic goals.

Dermal fillers are a medical treatment and not suitable for everyone. They are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and may not be appropriate for individuals with certain health conditions or a history of adverse reactions. At Precision Skin, your safety is our priority. We carry out a thorough medical consultation prior to treatment to ensure it’s the right option for you.

We prioritise your comfort during treatment. Most dermal fillers contain a local anesthetic to minimise discomfort. Additionally, we may apply a topical numbing cream before the procedure to ensure a pleasant experience.

Dermal fillers provide immediate results. You’ll notice a visible improvement in volume, shape, or softening of lines straight after your appointment. However, the full result settles over the following weeks as minor swelling reduces and the product integrates into the tissue. Follow up is recommended at 3-4 weeks to ensure you are happy with your results.

Post-treatment, you may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites. These effects are temporary and usually subside within a few days. We provide detailed aftercare instructions to support your recovery.

The longevity of dermal filler results varies depending on the treatment area and individual factors but typically ranges from 6 to 18 months. Regular maintenance sessions can help sustain your desired look over time.

Clients can achieve their desired result in a single session. In some cases, a staged approach is recommended. We’ll always discuss your goals and create a tailored plan at your consultation. Maintenance is typically required every 9–18 months depending on the area treated, type of filler used, and your individual metabolism.

  • Expertise in Natural Results: Our approach emphasises subtle enhancements that complement your natural beauty.
  • Personalised Treatment Plans: We tailor each procedure to your specific needs and facial structure.
  • High-Quality Products: We use premium, HA-based dermal fillers known for safety and efficacy.
  • Client-Centered Care: Your satisfaction and comfort are our top priorities throughout your aesthetic journey.

Dermal filler treatments carry medical risks. Bruising, swelling, and tenderness are common and usually mild, but more serious complications such as vascular occlusion (restricted blood flow) can occur, though these are rare. We use high-quality products and advanced techniques to minimise risk, and are fully trained in managing complications. Results are individual and cannot be guaranteed.
